Introduction to the Dales - Yorkshire Dales Guided Walk
There are highlights galore on this fairly gentle half-day walk in Wharfedale - a perfect introduction to the bucolic scenery of the Yorkshire Dales for those new to the area.
Begin in the quintessential Dales town of Grassington, where we’ll start off down a picture-perfect path lined with dry stone walls to lead us to the River Wharfe. After stopping to admire the waterfall at Linton Falls, we’ll follow the riverbank upstream to explore fascinating Grass Wood. It is not only one of the largest areas of broadleaved woodland in the Dales, but it is also home to a wide array of wildlife and wildflowers, limestone scars, and the remains of an Iron Age fort.
The return leg to Grassington could be taken straight out of ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ – so much so that Grassington was used as the setting for ‘Darrowby’ in the recent TV adaption. As well as pointing out some of the filming locations, your guide will give you an introduction to the history, landscape, wildlife and geology of this beautiful part of the world. A great way to start your trip to the Dales to ensure you get the most out of your visit.
Online bookings can be made until 48 hours before the start of the walk. For last minute bookings please send us an email or give us a call!
